A long day that will get longer
So today started off with a bang and sort of petered out as the day went on, which was extremely disappointing. I don’t know what it is, but when I want emails to come in, they simply don’t and when I don’t, I get hit with a monsoon. Weird.
I’m trying to update this more often (Really, I am!). Today I was planning on writing a couple of entries in here, but I needed to bring the dog to the vet — he may have a torn ligament in his back right knee, but we’re trying some drugs first to see if that will work. Let’s hope so. Aside from that, I saw a huge growth in the number of Twitter followers today, which was weird and unexpected. Does anyone have any idea why?
In a few hours, I’ll be making my way to a wake for my uncle’s brother. Those are always uncomfortable. Oh well. I guess that’s life. Besides that, you have to go to people’s wakes or else they won’t go to yours. Thanks, Yogi.
So, like I said, I’ll be trying to update this more often as the hours become days and the days become weeks. Give me some time though — this website has been up for months and I still have about 5 posts.
Yikes.
We’ll build up though, for sure.
I also hope to have some special announcements for everyone soon, which you can find here in the coming days. I’m basically trying to do more and do it more efficiently, if you’re looking for a hint. If not, take a hike.
Later.

I’m one of your many new followers for today. Blame it on TWiT in my case.
I started following you today cuz Leo tweeted about your “Microsoft doesn’t really want Yahoo!” post on CNET. Maybe others did the same?
Possible reasons for Twitter’nami of invites?
1. Buzz Out Loud last week
2. Acedtect/Tom posting your Twitter name in his Twitter feed
3. Pretty decent BOL and TWiT performances.
I might even finally get around to your Podcast this week
Hey Don,
I added you on Twitter today (elbaso on twitter) because I saw Leo Laporte’s public @message to you. Perhaps that’s why you got a lot of followers today.
Sorry about your dog.
Yeah, Leo’s public @tweet lead me to your profile.
Donny baby!
You are now a legend among geeks since your unfortunate Cnet blog posting last week..
We even talked about your unfortunate attempt to grok Linux at our regular monday meeting of developers and engineers. Some even read their favorite excerpts.
Most agreed you are not a ‘rear Enderle’, a small % think you are trolling for hits and all agreed that you are totally clueless as to what Linus Torvalds does, what a kernel is and lack any kind of understanding of the roles played by the kernel, the GNU toolchains, other parts of the operating systems, the desktop graphical interfaces like KDE, GNOME and countless others as well as the distros.
It truly was one of the saddest displays of ignorance seen on the web.
I could go on and name them all but you have 4-5 excellent comments following your article that do it very well.
You have access to a great wealth of information on the net but you also have access to people in the Linux community that we dont.
Can’t you call up Chris DiBona at Google and tell him you’ll buy him a nice big lunch in exchange to giving you a crash course on how the GNU/Linux operating works, is created as well as the all the interaction between the different groups that all speak for ‘the Linux’.

Chris likes food and Im sure would be willing to help you.
One look at that article is all it will take to convince him.
I thought that a colleague in my department would be in a quandary this morning. He raved last week about how the chick who was one of the replacements on BOL was chirpingly annoying, had nothing of substance to say and that they should have had you on all week, This morning I asked him if he still thought the same, He said Yes, as long as you promise to not talk about Linux.
Until you get your refresher course, I think it would be wise.
Id hate to bring up the cliche about people thinking youre an idiot if you dont say anything and confirming it when u open your mouth, so I wont. (Its fun to write in your style).
But I cant get mad at the man who gave us this concise description of the record companies, RIAA, etc:: “They’re all a bunch of idiots.” BOL654

This is great info to know.
